Penhale second at NYS Championships (Wrestling)
Army senior Lance Penhale of Kenai placed second in the 125-pound weight class over the weekend at the 41st Annual New York State Championships hosted by Cornell University.
Penhale, of Nikiski High fame, is one of the leaders at the United States Military Academy, where he has compiled an impressive career record of 66 wins and 35 loses.
The Alaskan ranks second at Army with 20 victories this season, including the two he picked at the NYS Championships. The highlight was a 1-0 upset of No. 2 seed Dan Bishop of Buffalo University in the semifinals.
Penhale, a three-time Alaska high school state champion, won 23 matches last season.
