Hannah Mattson BasketballThe University of Portland is having a tough season, but that doesn’t mean you just throw in the towel.

Hannah Mattson of Fairbanks needs that towel because she is putting in work on the basketball court.

The 5-foot-9 junior guard is having a career year when it comes to minutes, points, assists, steals and 3-point shooting percentage and is on pace to break her season best in rebounds.

She’s not playing garbage minutes either.

Mattson, of West Valley fame, has started 19 of 20 games.

She is averaging 21.0 minutes, 4.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and shooting .444 percent on 3-pointers.

In her most recent game against Saint Mary’s, Mattson matched her season high with 9 points on a trio of triples.
