Anchorage’s Iziah Sherman-Newsome collected his second double-double of the season and played a season-high 35 minutes to help Simon Fraser University post its biggest win of the season.

The 6-foot-4 junior scored 17 points and ripped down 11 rebounds in a 68-63 win over Western Oregon.

It was Simon Fraser’s first win in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference this season and denied Western Oregon its 11th.

Sherman-Newsome, of Bartlett High fame, converted 5-of-11 field goals, including a pair of 3s, and sank 5-of-6 free throws.

He grabbed seven offensive rebounds, helping deliver his first double-double since Dec. 30 against Western Washington.

He leads the NCAA D2 team with 122 rebounds and ranks fourth in scoring average at 8.3 points.
