Alaska Sports Hall of Fame to usher in Class of 2017 next week

All are invited to meet and honor the Class of 2017 Thursday, April 27, from 7-9pm at the Anchorage Museum atrium in downtown Anchorage.

The ceremony and reception is free and open to the public and will feature the enshrinement of 2017 Inductees and presentation of the annual Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Directors’ Awards.

Iditarod icons Martin Buser and Jeff King and Alaska Native Games legend Nicole Johnston, Fur Rendezvous Open World Championship Sled Dog Races (Event Category), and Vern Tejas’ Solo Winter Ascent of Denali in 1988 (Moment Category) –  will be inducted into the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony that includes portrait unveilings, video biographies, and trophy presentations.

The Directors’ Awards – which are presented to outstanding contemporary Alaskan athletes and community contributors through sports – will be presented this year to Morgan Hooe and David Norris  (Female and Male Pride of Alaska Awards), Ma’o Tosi (Joe Floyd Award), and Damen Bell-Holter (Trajan Langdon Award).
