After the Corban University softball team scored six runs in the top of the first inning, everybody thought the game was over.

It wasn’t.

The University of Great Falls battled back to pull within striking distance before Rachel White of Anchorage came out of the bullpen to slam the door and preserve a 9-5 victory in Great Falls, Montana.

The sophomore relief pitcher entered the game in the third inning with the bases loaded and no outs.

After she got out of that mess she allowed only two base hits over the next four innings to earn the save with five innings of shutout softball.

White, of South High fame, lowered her earned run average to 3.57 in 17.2 innings over six appearances. She owns a 2-1 record.
