Graduates from the same high school, Anchorage’s Ariela Lewis and Mia Wilson faced off as college opponents for the first time.

Lewis scored a goal for Alabama State, but Wilson’s Jacksonville State team won 3-1 to give her bragging rights during a NCAA D1 women’s soccer game in Oxford, Alabama.

Last year’s game between the two schools was canceled because of lightning.

Lewis, of Dimond High fame, is a senior forward and one of the greatest players in Alabama State history. She is a three-time first team all-conference selection and ranks second in career points with 75.

The only person ahead of her on the all-time scoring list is her sister Aaliyah, who graduated last season and holds school records for points [116], goals [45] and assists [24].

Together, Ariela and Aaliyah were the No. 1 scoring sister act in the country.

Lewis is on her own now. But she wasn’t the only Alaskan on the field against Jacksonville State.

Wilson, of Dimond High fame, is a sophomore midfielder with the Gamecocks.

She logged 42 minutes against Alabama State after playing a full 90 against Alabama two days earlier.

Wilson played in eight of 19 matches as a freshman, but she’s already playing an instrumental role as a strong defensive player this year.
