Even though the Bismarck Larks are out of the playoff hunt, Scooter Bynum of Fairbanks hasn’t stopped gunning for base hits.

The 21-year-old center fielder is hitting .394 in the month of August after a 13-for-33 clip in nine games.

Bynum, of Monroe Catholic High fame, has racked up four RBIs, two doubles and four walks this month.

He was named a Northwoods League all-star last month.

The Bismarck Larks are 29-40 overall as they finish out the season with the dog days of summer.

In 54 games, Bynum is hitting .276 with five home runs, 32 RBIs, 39 runs and eight stolen bases.

Bynum will be a senior at the University of Northern Illinois this year. Last year, he led the team with a .300 batting average, seven triples and 22 RBIs in 54 games.
