Alaska soccer was celebrated in Flagstaff, Arizona, as Anchorage’s Haleigh Van Allen and Malia Lyken each scored goals to provide the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team with a 2-1 win over Pacific.

It’s not often when two Alaskans find the back of the net in the same NCAA D1 game, but this NAU duo needed fewer than nine minutes to make it happen.

Van Allen, of Service High fame, converted a crossing pass in the third minute for her first goal of the season.

the 2015 Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year is tied for NAU team lead with six shots on goal.

This was her second goal in 34 career games, with the first coming in 2015.

Van Allen has played in all seven games this season after seeing action in only eight games last season after missing the last part of the year with an injury.

Lyken, of Dimond High fame, has maintained her reputation for being a fast and furious playmaker.

Last year, the 2016 Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year scored her first career goal in just her second game.

This year, the sophomore has netted two goals, including the game-winner against Pacific that came on a breakaway. She was the Alaska 100-meter state champ in 2014.

Lyken has three goals and an assist in 18 career games at NAU.
