Kodiak’s Trevor Dunbar was right in the middle of the action in the men’s pro field at the Minnesota Mile, just missing victory in a photo finish in a mad sprint finish that featured six runners.

In a battle between former NCAA All-Americans, Minnesota’s Ben Blakenship clocked a winning time of 4:07 to nip the former Oregon Duck by less than a second.

Dunbar – Alaska’s only sub-four-minute miler – beat out four other runners for second place that paid him $1,800.

Not a bad day’s work at $7.25 per second.

The Minnesota Mile is the fourth stop on the Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour.

Dunbar is Alaska’s only sub-four-minute miler and owns a PR of 3:55.
