Bailey plays big in must-win, helps Pima qualify for Nationals

Pima College freshman Jeremiah Bailey of Fairbanks played big when his team needed it most.

The 6-foot-6 forward played significant minutes off the bench and just missed a double-double as the No. 2 Aztecs beat No. 1 Phoenix College 73-70 in the Region I championship game in Arizona.

The win qualified Pima [28-4] for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

Bailey, of Monroe Catholic High fame, scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the title game.

His season averages are 10.7 points and 7.6 rebounds in 30 games.

His season highs are 26 points [twice], 15 rebounds and six assists.

NJCAA Division II National Tournament is March 20-24 in Danville, Illinois.
