Ruthy Hebard of Fairbanks and the rest of the Team USA women’s team picked up two more victories in the prelims to improve to 4-0 and advance to the medal round at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Manila, Philippines.

Hebard has scored 22 of her team’s 85 points as the Americans have racked up victories over Iran (21-7), Andorra (21-6), Uganda (22-9) and defending tournament champion Russia (21-13).

Team USA is comprised of four players from the University of Oregon, where Hebard just wrapped up her sophomore season. The foursome won the 3×3 national title to earn the chance to represent the stars and stripes at the World Cup.

Hebard, of West Valley High fame, is a 6-foot-4 All-Pac-12 forward with the Ducks.

“We saw that the teams were smaller, so we definitely focused on dominating inside and working on all the post moves we use at Oregon,” Hebard told USA Basketball. “Defensively, we switched everything off, were versatile, which is really helpful for 3-on-3. We just focused on closing out and playing really good defense.”

Team USA will face Italy (3-1) tomorrow in the first game of the medal round.
