Once James Curro of Anchorage gets ahead of the defense on the soccer field, the track star comes out.

The Pacific University forward used his sprinter speed to help him score a breakaway goal in the 47th minute of a 3-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran in Forest Grove, Oregon.

The sophomore scored the first of three goals for the Boxers in the second half to lead the NCAA D3 team to its first win in three games this season.

It was his first goal of the season and third in 21 career games.

Curro, of Dimond High fame, has two game=winning goals to his credit.

He ran track for Pacific last fall and PR’d in the 100 meters in 11.8 seconds.
