Marian University sophomore golfer Maxwell Dye of Kenai fired the best round on his team and finished tied for 36th out of 114 players at the Culver Edgewood College Fall Classic in Janesville, Wisconsin.

He carded a 7-over 78 on the par-71, 6,849-yard course. Day 2 was rained out.

It was the ninth career top-40 showing in 11 tournaments for the Alaskan.

He led the way for Marian, which finished 12th out of 20 teams.

Dye, of Kenai High fame, has averaged an 18-hole score of 78.1 in 20 rounds.

He is one of just two Alaskans playing currently playing college golf.
