Anchorage’s Talon Stanley scored the golden goal in overtime for the Colorado School of Mines men’s soccer team as the Orediggers took a 2-1, overtime thriller from Colorado State-Pueblo in Colorado.

In the 95th minute, Stanley found the ball near midfield and took off on a breakaway. He let loose two steps inside the 18-yard line and found the back of the net to give the Orediggers the victory.

It was the first game winner for the sophomore’s career.

Mines improved to 6-1 on the season, 3-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Stanley, of South High fame, tallied two assists in a 6-0 win over Cal State East Bay earlier this month.

For his career, the midfielder has amassed 3-3—9 totals in 27 games.
