Andrews goes 8-0, named KCAC women’s wrestler of the week

An 8-0 showing last weekend earned Agatha Andrews of Akiak women’s wrestler of the week honors in the NAIA Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

For the season, she is 19-3 with 16 pins.

The University of Jamestown freshman went 3-0 to win the 191-pound weight class of the York College Open on Day 1. She pinned all three opponents in 73 seconds, 49 seconds and 1 minute, 48 seconds.

Andrews, of Mt. Edgecumbe High fame, dominated Day 2 as well.

She posted a 5-0 record and led the nationally third-ranked Jamestown Jimmies to first place at the York College Duals.

In her four contested matches, Andrews pinned each of her opponents, with her quickest fall coming in 55 seconds. Her other match was a forfeit.

Andrews was selected KCAC women’s wrestler of the week by a vote of conference sports information directors.
