Duffield crushes 2 bombs in season-opening weekend for UTEP
University of Texas at El Paso cleanup hitter Kacey Duffield of Fairbanks had four hits in four games, including two home runs, during the season-opening tournament at the NM State Invitational in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
She finished the tournament with a .444 batting average and .583 on-base percentage. She drove in three runs, scored three runs and drew three walks.
Duffield, of Lathrop High fame, has started the last 40 games at first base dating to last season. Her career fielding percentage is .985.
Last season, she hit .290 with five home runs and 22 RBIs in 51 games.
