Bailey closes out season for Pacific with career-best effort
The end of the college hoops season came too early for Jeremiah Bailey of Fairbanks.
He played his best basketball down the stretch for the University of the Pacific, culminating with his first career double-double in a 61-53 loss to Pepperdine in the first round of the West Coast Conference Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore collected career highs of 22 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in his first taste of the NCAA D1 postseason.
Bailey, of Monroe Catholic High fame, notched double figures four times in the final 11 games, including back-to-back games against Pepperdine.
His previous career high for scoring was 16 points against Saint Mary’s and his previous rebounding high was nine against Portland.
Bailey averaged 5.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 31 appearances.
