Burgess exceeds 1,000 points at JC, signs with D2 Seattle Pacific
Ashlynn Burgess of Eagle River has been a pillar of consistency for Wenatchee Valley College for the last two seasons, scoring 538 points as a sophomore and 528 points as a freshman.
Seattle Pacific University took notice of her reliability and signed the 5-foot-10 sophomore for the next two seasons.
Before she joins the NCAA D2 Falcons, though, Burgess will lead Wenatchee Valley one last time in this week’s NWAC Women’s Basketball Championships in Everett, Washington.
She has recorded 10 double-doubles in 29 games this season and finished the regular season ranked in the top 10 in scoring (eighth, 18.6) and free-throw attempts (seventh, 5.2).
Burgess, of Chugiak High fame, led her team with 6.9 rebounds per game and grabbed 13 in each of her last two games.
She collected season highs of 31 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals.
