Wall improves to 2-0 for So Cal Shepherds of Sunset League
Philip Wall of Juneau keeps pitching at a high level, regardless of the competition.
Fresh off another successful college campaign, the right-hander landed a summer gig with the Southern California Shepherds of the Sunset League.
Wall, of Thunder Mountain High fame, improved to 2-0 after winning his second straight start in a 6-1 victory over the Signal Hill Oilers, scattering eight hits and a walk over six innings.
He’s got a 1.64 ERA and eight strikeouts in his first 11 innings with his new summer team.
Last summer he played American Legion Baseball in Alaska with the Juneau Post 25 Midnight Suns.
Wall was named MVP of the state tournament and played a pivotal role in helping Juneau make history at the Northwest Regional as the team snapped Alaska’s 10-year, 19-game losing streak at the World Series qualifier.
He has spent the past two seasons at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and this year earned first-team all-league honors in the NCAA D3 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
