Anchorage’s Sean Duffy threw for 171 yards and a touchdown as University of Dubuque suffered a 42-7 defeat to Wisconsin-Whitewater in NCAA D3 football.

The junior pocket passer tossed a 40-yard scoring strike in the second quarter to pull the Spartans within 21-6.

Duffy, of West High fame, surpassed 2,700 passing yards for his college career.

He has compiled 2,247 with Dubuque and had 459 as a freshman with City College of San Francisco.

Duffy has also thrown 32 touchdown passes, including 27 at Dubuque, thanks largely to his 26-TD total last year.

Five of his TD passes at Dubuque have been to tight end Karletty Faamatuainu of Eagle River.
