How the Voting Works

Public Vote
Each member of the public has the opportunity to make their own selection on the “Vote” page during November annually.   Members of the public must rank 5 People, 3 Moments and 3 Events. They have the option to write-in one candidate in each category. The accumulative vote of the general public shall be the equivalent to that of one Selection Panel member.  The Selection Panel member will view the results of the public vote before completing their own ballots.

Public Recommendations
The public can submit a recommendation form any time of year to raise awareness about a person, moment or event you feel is worthy of consideration for induction.  All submitted recommendations will be reviewed by the selection panel prior to them completing their own annual ballot.  A number of submissions will also periodically be posted on the Alaska Sports Blog for public review.  A recommendation is not a vote.  If you would like to participate in the annual public voting process, visit the candidates page.  If you would like to vote for someone not listed as a candidate, you can vote for them as a “write-in” candidate.

Selection Panel
The Selection Panel holds a meeting annually to complete their ballots.  They must first review the public voting results and any comments submitted from the public.  Each panel member completes a ballot with 10 people, 5 moments and 5 events ranked.

Inductee Vote
Each individual inducted in the “People” category shall have the opportunity to submit a ballot.   Just like the public, inductees must rank 5 People, 3 Moments and 3 Events.  And as with the public, the accumulative vote of the inductees shall be the equivalent to that of one Selection Panel member.  The Selection Panel member will view the results of the inductee vote before completing their own ballots.
