Hardy hoping to stand out (Football)
With the season opener right around the corner, Daniel Hardy of Anchorage is trying to distinguish himself from the other receivers on the University of Idaho football team.
That was tough last week when 11 different players caught passes at the team’s scrimmage, but Hardy found a way to stand out.
Get into the end zone.
Hardy, a 6-foot-4 junior, hauled in a 51-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Nathan Enderle, the same guy that hooked up with him last year on an are-you-kidding-me touchdown that earned both players national recognition.
Now Hardy is trying to leave an impression with the Idaho coaching staff in training camp, hoping to see more snaps. The team will hold another scrimmage today.
The Vandals open the season Saturday at New Mexico State.
Last season Hardy caught 9 passes for 128 yards and 2 TDs. He also added his name to the record book by combining with Enderle for that 81-yard TD, the fifth-longest pass play in school history. Not bad for a guy who was on the scout team just one year earlier.
