Moore, Fever advance in playoffs (Basketball)
An injured Jessica Moore is marching on in the WNBA playoffs.
The 6-foot-3 center from Palmer, who is playing despite a hyper-extended knee suffered less than a week ago, helped the Indiana Fever sweep the Washington Mystics in the best-of-3 semifinal series to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The defense-minded Moore logged only 8 minutes of playing time in Saturday’s decisive 81-74 overtime victory at home. She played 18 minutes in Game 1’s 88-79 win.
It’s obvious the Alaskan is hurting because her numbers so far in the playoffs don’t compare to the regular season, when averaged career-high numbers.
But you gotta give it up to her for gutting it up at playoff time.
Moore is gunning for her first championship since winning the last of her three NCAA titles at the University of Connecticut in 2004.
Catch Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Fever and defending champion Detroit Shock Wednesday on ESPN2.
