Chalmers getting more aggressive (Basketball)

The only Alaskan point guard in the NBA is getting competition for his starting job, so he’s taking matters into his own hands.

Anchorage’s Mario Chalmers of the Miami Heat used a late rush to finish with a team-high 17 points in Sunday’s 95-93 preseason loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

The former Bartlett High and University of Kansas stud started the game 1 for 4 before he was replaced by John Lucas. Chalmers finished 6 of 12 from the floor.

“Chalmers was more aggressive than the first two games, with this by far his best performance thus far. This time, he attacked,” Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel wrote in his blog.

Good thing, too, because the Heat today signed free agent Carlos Arroyo to give them four ballhandlers on the roster.
