At this pace, Mario Chalmers will never miss a game in his NBA career.

The second-year point guard from Anchorage made history for the Miami Heat last season when he become the first rookie to play in every game for the club; last year that added up to 82 in the regular season and seven in the playoffs.

Now he’s the only starter to play in every preseason game this year.

So what gives?

“I think it’s a little bit of good fortune, a little bit of good working out,” he told the Miami Herald

“Balance and leg strength – that’s all I really did,” he said. “I think it’s starting to pay off right now.”

Chalmers and teammates reportedly spent the offseason putting up 10,000 shots and putting down 10,000 dribbles, hoping to build on his 10-point, 5-rebound, 2-steal rookie numbers.

“I’ve worked hard this summer to make sure my body’s ready for this season,” the Alaskan said.
