Big 12 women’s basketball coaches love them some Kelsey Griffin.

For the third consecutive year, the 6-foot-2 Alaskan center for the Nebraska Cornhuskers was a preseason All-Big 12 selection. Twice before she went on to become a first-team all-conference pick.

Griffin, of Eagle River fame, earned the preseason honor last year but missed the entire season with a foot injury.

Before she got hurt the Chugiak High School product was one of the best players in the rugged Big 12. Now a senior, she enters the season as the conference’s active career leader in rebounds (655) and third-leading scorer (1,348).

As a junior she averaged 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, helping Nebraska advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
