Anchorage’s Daniel Hardy returned to action Saturday after missing last week with a kidney injury, catching two balls for 17 yards to aid the Idaho Vandals in a 29-25 victory over San Jose State.

It was the fourth straight win for Idaho (5-1), with the last three coming by a total of just nine points.

Hardy, of West High fame, has a career-high 16 receptions for 260 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was leading the team in catches before he injured one of his kidneys Sept 26 against Northern Illinois.

“He’s just a great athlete,” Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle said recently. “He runs great routes, has great hands and can make plays after the catch. When you have a tight end who can do that, it causes matchup problems and makes things tough on a defense.”

The Alaskan made things tough on his Vandals on Saturday after he fumbled a sure touchdown at the 1-yard line, but Idaho still managed to win the game to keep the good times rolling.
