Idaho, Hardy are bowl eligible (Football)

The emergence of Anchorage’s Daniel Hardy as a productive tight end seems to be in rhythm with the rise of the Idaho football team.

And as a result both are enjoying breakout seasons.

Idaho beat Hawaii 35-23 over the weekend to clinch the program’s first winning season since 1999 and become bowl eligible with its required sixth victory. The Vandals are now 6-1 overall, winners of five straight. They are also atop the WAC standings with five games to play.

And Hardy is a major reason. The Alaskans caught three passes for a team-high 62 yards, raising his season totals to 19-322-2 in just six games.

Last year Idaho lost 10 of 11 games under head coach Robb Akey. Now they’re going to the postseason.
