Alaskan Kyle Schierholt continues to have a kick-ass college football career as he continues to kick the ball through the uprights.

The senior at Humboldt State is nationally ranked this year in field goals among NCAA Division II kickers, averaging 1½ per game. Last year he was an all-conference punter.

He has converted 6 of 7 field goals and 12 of 13 extra points for the Lumberjacks (2-2), tying him for the team lead in scoring with 30 points. Last week, he made field goals of 23 and 46 yards in a 24-20 loss to Dixie State.

Schierholt is a former all-state kicker at Chugiak High School, where he set the Alaska record with a 47-yard field goal.

As a punter, he is averaging 37.7 yards per kick (55th nationally) and has placed the ball inside the 20-yard line on 7-of-17 attempts.
