Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin last night showed no ill effects from the foot injury that robbed her of all season.

The senior forward for the University of Nebraska women’s basketball team collected game-high totals of 19 points and 8 rebounds in a 68-54 exhibition win over Pittsburg State.

The 6-foot-2 Alaskan let everybody know who the best player on the court was – she won the opening tip, grabbed her team’s first rebound and started a 12-3 run to start the game by scoring Nebraska’s first points on a 15-footer.

“It’s pretty obvious that Kelsey is our most aggressive player both offensively and on the glass,” Nebraska Coach Connie Yori told WOWT-TV in Lincoln. “She played hard and made plays for us.”

Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, is a preseason All-Big 12 pick.
