Schierholt named All-GNAC (Football)
Kyle Schierholt will go down as one of the greatest kickers from the 49th state.
The 21-year-old Alaskan at Humboldt State capped his college career with another all-star performance after he was named second team all-league placekicker in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Schierholt, of Chugiak High fame, was selected all-conference three of four years in college as well as his final two years of high school.
He was an all-league punter as a junior at Humboldt State and as a freshman at Northern State University, and he was an all-state pick as a punter and placekicker for Chugiak, where he set the Alaska field-goal record of 47 yards.
This year, Schierholt (5-foot-10, 200 pounds) ranked third in the GNAC in scoring with 58 points in 10 games. He made 28 of 32 extra points and 10 of 15 field goals, ranking 24th nationally with an average of one field goal per game. His long was 46 yards.
Schierholt also punted for the Lumberjacks, finishing third in the GNAC with a 37.8-yard average (long of 58).
