Winford impressive at EWU (Basketball)

He hasn’t even played an official game yet, but already Eastern Washington University freshman Kevin Winford of Anchorage is being touted as team’s greatest threat from the perimeter.
“Kevin Winford is without any question the best shooter on our team,” coach Kirk Earlywine told reporters recently.
Well, alrighty then.
Winford, of Bartlett High fame, certainly didn’t disappoint in two exhibition games, when the 5-foot-11 guard averaged 17 points on .538 percent shooting.
He came off the bench to light up Saint Martin’s for five 3-pointers on his way to scoring 22 points in 24 minutes. He started the next game against Montana State-Billings, netting 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
Winford–a former Alaska high school player of the year–tips off the season for real Saturday against the University of Portland.
