Blake Martin

Football is king at the University of Oklahoma, but the Sooners are proving to be pretty good on the ice as well.

Of course, it helps to have an Alaskan on the roster.

Anchorage’s Blake Martin has helped the Sooners move up to No. 7 in the American Collegiate Hockey Association national rankings. Oklahoma has a 13-6 record, with three losses coming in overtime or shootouts, entering next week’s series at Arizona State.

Martin, of Service High fame, is third on the team with 26 points (14 goals, 12 assists).

The junior forward used to play at the University of Nebraska-Omaha of the CCHA.
