Damen Bell Holter

Oral Roberts coach Scott Sutton finally started Alaskan Damen Bell-Holter the first time.

And although he wasn’t around to see the end of the game, Sutton’s move worked out beautifully.

Bell-Holter, a 6-foot-10 freshman from Hydaburg, scored seven points and grabbed four offensive rebounds in 17 minutes to help Oral Roberts beat Western Illinois 74-62 in Summit League play Saturday.

Sutton got ejected for the first time in his coaching career after receiving two consecutive technical fouls early in the second half.

What he did see of DBH he must have liked. The Alaskan scored five of his team’s first eight points and had all of his points and most of his rebounds in the first half before foul trouble limited his playing time.

Bell-Holter, a two-time first team all-state player at Ketchikan High, is averaging 4.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game on the season for Oral Roberts (10-9, 5-3).
