The Eastern Washington University men’s basketball team had lost six of seven games and trailed league-leading Montana State 42-34 late in the second half.

The Eagles needed something to get them out of their funk.

Enter freshman Kevin Winford of Anchorage.

Winford, of Bartlett High fame, drained a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer, igniting a 41-31 run that propelled EWU to a 75-73 Big Sky road win.

The 5-foot-11 Alaskan finished with nine points, nearly twice his 5.6 season average.
