Winford nets 16 in EWU loss (Basketball)
January 30, 2010

Eastern Washington University freshman Kevin Winford of Anchorage dropped in 16 points—twice his season average—yet it couldn’t stop the Eagles from losing again.
This time it was an 85-77 setback Saturday to Portland State, EWU’s 16th defeat on the season.
Winford, of Bartlett High fame, drilled 6-of-13 shots, including four of nine from downtown.
The 5-foot-11 guard has bagged double figures just five times in 20 games, but two of them have come in the last three. In fact, Winford’s scoring average has jumped from 6.4 to 8.0 in Big Sky games.
But it hasn’t helped EWU stopped the losing, dropping five straight games.
