When it comes to the Pac-10 Conference, Boise State University doesn’t come to mind.

Unless, of course, you’re talking about wrestling.

The No. 8-ranked Broncos lead the conference with a 6-0 mark, thanks in part to Alaskan Alan Bartelli.

Bartelli, of Wasilla High fame, leads Boise State with 23 victories on the season, including the team’s fastest pin in 90 seconds. He is also second on the team in pins (five).

The junior won both of his matches over the weekend, helping the Broncos knock off Stanford and UC-Davis. He beat Ryan Mango of Stanford 4-0 on Friday and Kody Klaus of UC-Davis 9-3 on Saturday.

Bartelli has nearly won as many matches this year (23) as he did in his freshman and sophomore seasons combined (29).

He was a three-time state champion in Alaska, where he compiled a 170-13 career record.

Bosie State (13-2) wrap up the regular season Feb. 5 at Utah State and Feb. 12 at Oregon State before taking part in the Pac-10 Championships and the end of the month.
