Lauwers keys Adams State in OT win (Basketball)

Adams State College freshman Colton Lauwers of Anchorage doubled his season scoring, rebounding and assist averages and had a hand in his team’s biggest basket to spark a thrilling overtime victory Tuesday night.
Lauwers, of Dimond High fame, set up teammate Nick Fox for a 16-foot jumper with just 12.5 seconds left in regulation, keying a 90-87 home win over Fort Lewis.
The 6-foot-3 starting guard finished with seven points, four assists and three rebounds in 23 minutes.
Lauwers, the 2009 Alaska Class 4A Player of the Year, is averaging 3.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25 games this season.
The Alaskan has elevated his game in the second half of the season to help NCAA Division II Adams State salvage an otherwise disappointing season. The Grizzlies have won three straight to bump their overall record to 7-19.
