Harris continues Alaska’s NCAA legacy (Basketball)

Anchorage’s Ramon Harris joined an exclusive club today.

Not only did the University of Kentucky senior earn his first career NCAA Tournament victory in three tries with this afternoon’s 100-71 thumping off lowly No. 16 seed East Tennessee State, but Harris found his way into the scoring column (5 points) for the second time at the Big Dance.

It got me thinking: What other Alaskans have scored in multiple NCAA Tournament men’s games?

There were only three before Harris—Trajan Langdon (Duke), Carlos Boozer (Duke) and Mario Chalmers (Kansas). Boozer and Chalmers each won titles while Langdon lost in the final.

Other Alaskans have scored in a NCAA Tournament game like Chris Toomer with Liberty in 1994 while some have played but never scored such as Ray Schafer (who played on the 2007 Oregon team that went to the Elite Eight) and C.J. Hooker (who played on the 2005 North Carolina team that won the national championship).
