Kuper joins Millionaires Club (Football)

Chris Kuper

Fourth-year NFL offensive lineman Chris Kuper of Anchorage received a sizeable raise this week.

The Denver Broncos starting guard nearly quadrupled his annual salary from $535,000 to $2.5 million, the Denver Post reported, after signing a one-year tender Tuesday that took him off the market.

Kuper, of Dimond High fame, is the first of five Denver restricted free agents to sign his tender.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Alaskan was shown a lot of love by the Broncos after receiving an unusually high first-round offer for an offensive lineman. If not, maybe Kuper would have been moving zip codes.

Kuper is a three-year starter for the Broncos and two seasons ago he was the only NFL guard to start all 16 games and not give up a sack.

I’d say that’s raise worthy.
