March 4, 2010

With two victories over Azusa Pacific earlier this season, The Master’s College must have felt pretty good about its chances going into tonight’s first-round playoff game of the GSAC Tournament.

Then Alaskan Leif Karlberg drilled a 3-pointer to put the NAIA Mustangs ahead 17-12 and things looked good.

But it never happened.

The tide turned shortly afterwards and The Master’s never recovered, losing 80-56 for a disappointing one-and-done postseason performance.

Senior Thomas Millar of Anchorage bagged 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting in his final college game. The former all-state player from Heritage Christian added three rebounds and one steal.

Karlberg, a freshman of Grace Christian fame, finished with just that one basket.

The Master’s finished the season 18-13, although the team lost six of its last eight.
