The college baseball season isn’t even a month old and pitcher Ben Rosen of the College of Idaho is already on the verge of matching last year’s win total.

Rosen, of Chugiak High fame, ran his record to 3-1 over the weekend after tossing seven strong innings against Concordia in NAIA action.

The 6-foot-4 senior right-hander allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) in a 14-3 win, throwing six shutout innings after getting roughed up in the first inning.

The College of Idaho is 13-5 on the season.

Last year, Rosen went 4-3 with a team-leading 2.87 ERA in 57 innings to earn honorable mention all-league honors in the Cascade Conference. Then he played for the Anchorage Bucs.
