Hanley earns NCAA D2 provisional (Running)
Anchorage’s Ryan Hanley turned in a memorable result over the weekend at the University of Colorado Invitational in Boulder.
Running against predominately NCAA Division I runners, the freshman at D-II Colorado School of Mines finished sixth in the 800 meters with a provisional time of 1:51.89, the sixth fastest in Division II this season.
Hanley, of Dimond High fame, is coming off an All-American indoor track season.
Another Alaskan at Colorado School of Mines, senior Savannah Afoa of Anchorage, fouled out in the discus.
Afoa, also of Dimond High fame, is an All-American discus thrower who owns the school record of more than 152 feet. She also recently wrapped up a successful basketball career.
