Oleson starts, burns former team (Basketball)

It is playoff time, so naturally Brad Oleson is lifting his play.

The North Pole native earned a rare start and made the most of his opportunity, delivering 11 points and seven rebounds to help Caja Laboral beat Real Madrid 62-60 in Game 1 of the Spanish League semifinal series.

The victory—and the fact that he played a big part—had to be sweet for Oleson, who was traded by Real Madrid last summer after new head coach Ettore Messian came to town.

Oleson, of UAF fame, played a season-high 29 minutes and made 5 of 7 field goals, helping the 6-foot-3 guard reach double figures for just the seventh time in 35 games this season.
