Southpaw starter Matt Way of Sitka pieced together another strong performance, his fifth in a row for the Class A Lakewood BlueClaws.

Only this time he didn’t figure in the decision.

Way, 22, threw six innings and allowed just two earned runs in a 4-3 win over Delmarva, continuing a trend that will likely get the former Washington State University star called up to Double A ball if he keeps it up.

The 6-foot-1 Alaskan has dominated over his last five starts, winning three of four decisions and carving up the competition with a sparkling 2.32 ERA over his last 31 innings. During that stretch he has struck out 30 while walking just seven.

On the season, Way has a 3-4 record and 4.34 ERA in 56 innings. He has pitched in 10 games, starting nine of them.
