Anchorage’s Jamar Hill delivered the go-ahead hit last night to help the Maryland Blue Crabs pull away from the Somerset Patriots for a 7-2 win in the Atlantic League, an independent league on the East Coast.

Hill connected on a two-run home run, his fifth of the season, to break open a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning.

The leadoff hitter is hitting .288 with the Blue Crabs, which acquired the Alaskan in a trade earlier this month.

Hill, of Bartlett High fame, has three homers and 12 RBIs in 20 games with his new team.

In nine professional seasons, highlighted by Double-A stints in 2007 and 2008, Hill has hit 86 career home runs, power numbers for a top-of-the-lineup guy.
