The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame and Healthy Futures will combine forces Thursday to host an activity course at the Providence Picnic from 4 to 6 p.m. on the west end of the Park Strip.

Organizers have coordinated for six Healthy Heroes to lead youngsters through an activity course that will focus on basic exercises that anyone can do with little or no props. The Healthy Heroes will be participating with the kids and encouraging them, said Alaska Sports Hall of Fame president Harlow Robinson.

The six Healthy Heroes that have volunteered are Carl Arts, former All-American basketball player at UAA; Trond Flagstad, current UAA ski coach and Mount Marathon champion; Preston Pollard, an Alaska professional skateboarder; Laura Ingham, a former East High and NCAA basketball star; Eric Heil, a five-time Arctic Man champ; and Dick Mize, a former Olympic biathlete.

Stop by and say hello to the kids and thank the Healthy Heroes for their contributions.
