Team USA, Bingham stay unbeaten (Basketball)
Anchorage’s Dorena Bingham moved closer to winning another title today, thanks to the Team USA’s victory at the FIBA Under-17 World Championships in France.
Bingham, of East High fame, is an assistant coach on the women’s U-17 national team, which beat Spain 86-57 in the quarterfinals to remain undefeated in six tournament games.
Team USA advanced to the semifinals, where the Americans will face one-loss China.
At East High, Bingham, 46, won 280 games and three ASAA state titles in 14 seasons before walking away. In March, she was on the bench for the victories West squad during the McDonald’s All-American girls game.
