Perhaps the designers of the “Alaska Girls Kick Ass” bumper sticker had Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin in mind.

The rookie starter with the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun enjoyed one of her best games of the season last night, despite a shoulder injury suffered in the first half.

She could barely lift her shoulder away from her side in the later stages of the game, yet it didn’t slow her down.

Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, delivered 10 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes. She also finished with a +7, which is more impressive when you consider the Sun lost 89-80.

“She never lets up,” writes John Altavilla of the Hartfort Courant. “She has an incredible will and knack for drawing offense fouls.”
