Manumaleuna back in the fold at BYU (Football)

July 28, 2010

After a two-year break, Eathyn Manumaleuna of Anchorage has returned to Brigham Young University.

Manumaleuna, of East High fame, missed the last two NCAA football seasons to fulfill his Mormon mission obligations in Oklahoma City.

Now he’s back, looking to regain his starting job on the defensive line.

The 6-foot-2, 280-pounder started all 13 games as a freshman in 2007, delivering 25 tackles and one sack.

But his signature play came when he blocked UCLA’s 28-yard field goal attempt with three seconds left to seal a 17-16 win in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Entering this season, Manumaleuna is listed as the backup at defensive end.
